Teacher modern dance

Lorenzo Koppenaal is a dancer and international teacher based in the Netherlands. He studied at the prestigious Conservatory of Dance in New York and graduated from the modern dance department of the Amsterdam University of the Arts. He participated in the Fontys Dance Academy pre-professional course in 2010 and graduated as a dance teacher at the Utrechtse Dansacademie in 2014. He combined the Dance in Education and Modern Dance majors at the Amsterdam University in the similar year. In addition to his modern dance major, he decided to dive deeper into the classical codified dance techniques at the Purchase Conservatory of Dance and the Merce Cunningham studios before graduating in 2018.

During his training he attended intensives/masterclasses of international companies like Batsheva Dance Company, Merce Cunningham Trust, ICK Amsterdam, Cullberg Baletten, LeineRoebana and Introdans. Lorenzo has been teaching passionately for over eight years now. He is/was a guest teacher at: Metropolitan Ballet Theater & Academy (Maryland, USA), Saturno Professional Dance Center (Salerno, Italy), Hamburg Summer Dance Intensive (Hamburg, DE) Limón Weiterbildung for dancers & teachers (Cologne, DE), GinaWorkshops Dance Institute (Hamburg, DE), Utrecht Danst Festival (Utrecht, NL), S.P.I.D. Ballet Academy (Milano, IT) ANA pre-professional dance program (Amsterdam, NL) and many more.

Besides his dance career, he has been teaching pilates and yoga for the last five years. Lorenzo has carefully developed his own conditioning class: Strength, Balance & Restore, which premiered in Hamburg in 2017. This class for dancers and non-dancers includes pilates, ballet conditioning, and yoga-inspired exercises to specifically train the red muscle fibers.
