Modern / Jazz

At Danshuis, modern lessons are often combined with Jazz dance. This expressive style originated in North and Central America with influences from African dance and jazz music. Teacher Henry calls his class 'Moderno', rooted in Modern Afro-Cuban dance styles.

Modern Jazz level 3/4 – Tuesday (18+)

Modern Jazz level 2 – Wednesday (21+)

Classical Ballet

The classical ballet lessons are taught according to the Russian Vaganova method. With this method you work on building a strong technique (strength and balance), while at the same time it is a very expressive and dance-oriented approach.

Classical Ballet A level 4 – Monday (17–30)

Classical Ballet B level 4 – Tuesday (25+)

Teacher: Nicolas Rapaic. Time: 19.15–20.30. Age: 25+. Drop-in. Start: 1 September 2026. 10-class card € 190,-.

Classical Ballet level 4 and teachers – Friday (18+)

Teacher: Haya Maëla. Time: 11.00–12.15. Age: 18+. Season course. Start: 4 September 2026. Class taught in English. Price: € 654,- / <21 years € 574,-.

Classical Ballet level 1/2 (SC) – Monday (21+)

Modern Dance

Danshuis Haarlem specialises in modern dance lessons, including styles such as Cunningham, Limón, Graham and Modern Floorwork. Sometimes combined with classical ballet or jazz.

2 or 3 Styles

At Danshuis, adults can take a season course combining 2 or 3 different dance styles — a mix of classical, modern or jazz.

Modern / Improvisation

In these lessons, the teacher will guide you into the world of dance. Alongside open-ended exercises in which you create your own movements, you will learn new dance steps and work on your posture and flexibility. For beginner and elementary dancers (levels 1/2) aged 40 and over.

Modern/improvisation level 1/2 – Wednesday (40+)

Teacher: Else Heinink. Time: 19.30–20.45. Age: 40+. Season course. Start: 2 September 2026. Price: € 654,-.

Pilates, Conditioning and Dance Technique

Exercises to build strength, flexibility and coordination, partly aimed at general dance technique such as balance, turn-out and core stability. Please note: your registration covers the entire season, but you have the right to cancel per course.

Pilates/dance training A open level (SC) – Tuesday (14–20)

Pilates/dance training B open level (SC) – Tuesday (21+)

Selection classes

For young dancers from the age of 11 who want to deepen their technique and appreciate a more focused way of working. Greater precision is expected. Admission in consultation with the teachers.

Jazz SELECTION A – Monday (16–20)

Rehearsals Dansgroep Haarlem

Dansgroep Haarlem creates engaged dance theatre in which current themes are translated into personal and compelling performances.

The company is intended for well-trained (professionally) dancers who no longer wish to make dance their profession, but who do want to continue training and performing at the highest possible level. Dance teachers who enjoy performing on stage are also welcome.
