CHILDREN'S DANCE SCHEDULE

Toddler Dance

In a playful way, toddlers are introduced to the basic principles of dance, such as body awareness, musicality, and dance development. With songs, props, and inspiring music, the children dance for 45 minutes. Classes are offered as a short course of 12 lessons. Late enrolment is possible; the price will be calculated proportionally. The course concludes with a small presentation.

Pre-school Dance

In the pre-school dance classes (4 - 6 years), much attention is paid to improvisation and general dance development. Elements such as musicality, body awareness and use of space are covered in a playful way. At the end of the season, the pre-schoolers perform in the big Danshuis show. Pre-school dance classes for children from age 4 are offered as short courses of 12 lessons. For 5 and 6 year olds we offer season courses. Late enrolment is always possible. The lesson price will be calculated proportionally.

Classical ballet / Modern dance

At Danshuis, combination classes are given in classical ballet and modern dance. The class starts with approximately half an hour of classical ballet technique, followed by dancing from modern dance technique. A great class for children who enjoy working on their technique but also want to dance more freely. During the modern dance section, improvisation is used so children can fully express and develop their creativity. Please note: all dancers aged 10–18 are required to take at least 2 classes per week.

Parent-Child Dance

During the parent/child dance class, a (grand)parent or carer dances together with a 2-year-old toddler. Both are invited to dance together, making the young dancer feel safe and inspired to learn new movements and turn their imagination into movement. A very special class to experience together!

Modern / Jazz

Modern dance combined with Jazz dance. Techniques such as Floorwork and Cunningham, with room for improvisation.
